ForkTale and MidCoast Memory Theater are both local community projects that aim to bring people together through the time-honored art of storytelling. I've personally always been fond of breaking down social barriers by offering up my own vulnerability first. When we stop trying to guard, and offer up our embarrassing secrets, it takes away the power of the fear of judgement.
The more embarrassing the better. Offer it up freely, and it puts you in the driver's seat. Nobody can use it against you, because you've beaten them to the punch. It helps other people to relax about their own fears and mistakes. It brings us all together and humanizes all the stupid shit that we are all so worried somebody will discover about ALL of us.
The shittiest.
I love a shitty story! -bubar
